Through Temple University’s School of Sport, Tourism, and Hospitality Management 2025 Strategic Plan: Lead, Impact and Transform, STHM has launched a new Office of Diversity, Equity, And Inclusion (ODEI).
STHM ODEI will develop school-wide initiatives and programs focused on fostering an inclusive culture and campus community. The goal of the Office of Diversity, Equity, And Inclusion (ODEI) is to combine industry and academia, to develop equitable distributed programs that impact the cultural competence, social awareness, and globalization of the industries of Sport, Recreation, Tourism, and Hospitality.
Launched were two capacity budling/advocacy series designed to foster cultural competence, social awareness, and advocacy efforts in the industries of Sport, Recreation, Tourism, and Hospitality. This Initiative brings together experts in the DEI space within industry and academia to educate our stakeholders around critical DEI-related topics.
ODEI’s Diversity Speaks series focuses on capacity building for our students and alumni. The Diversity Speaks Series platform is used to facilitate candid conversations about the practical implications of DEI; and the Inclusive Excellence Series focuses on facilitating critical conversation and inclusion strategies for our staff and faculty. The Inclusive Excellence Series platform fosters provocative conversations about Organizational Culture and strategies for navigating difficult conversations in the classroom and the workplace. These are just a few of the many initiatives we are developing through STHM ODEI.
